Our Approach
Our vision is to create a sensitively designed coastal village, deeply rooted in place and culture. Guided by the landscape and its natural beauty, our philosophy is to retain, rehabilitate and create with purpose.
We call our process a ‘landscape led’ approach. It’s a contemporary and forward-looking sustainability approach that minimises disturbance to vegetation and landforms. Our village area is deliberately shaped to preserve more high quality vegetation and significantly increase the total retained and managed vegetation compared to previous ideas for this important site.
To realise our vision we’ve teamed up with some of the best landscape architects and designers in Australia who have designed a coastal village that will set a new standard for tourism in Western Australia, while also delivering important new community facilities.
This unique coastal village will deliver experiences true to the laidback down-south lifestyle, providing the perfect base for exploring the region, and enhancing the lifestyle of people who live there already.

Project Snapshot
The Smiths Beach site has been zoned for development since 1999. An approved Structure Plan is currently in place with the potential to deliver a suburban intensity subdivision with over 500 tourism and residential dwellings across the site.
Our vision is for a lower intensity, sustainable coastal village comprised of:
a 65-room hotel;
61 holiday homes;
a Campground;
a Community Hub (including new Surf Life Saving Club and General Store); and
a dedicated Cape to Cape Welcome Centre.
Environmentally sensitive
Landscape responsive design to deliver a far better outcome for the site.
Significantly reduced density and dispersed buildings to maximise vegetation retention.
Important vegetation and key fauna habitats retained.
41% of the site will be donated by owners to Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park, and an extra 10% of the site is set aside as natural Public Open Space.

Diverse range of accommodation including a 65-room hotel, 61 holiday homes and campground.
Dedicated Cape to Cape Welcome Centre will inform and inspire walkers on the world-renowned track.
